Shake-It-Up Story Time
A Program for Children Ages 2-5
Shake-It-Up Story Time is designed to be a special time for child and parent or caregiver to spend together listening to stories, singing, dancing, playing rhythm instruments, and participating in creative movement activities. Both children and adults will be encouraged to get up and move and use their imaginations! Adults will be given ideas on how to incorporate into daily life the five easy practices (talking, reading, singing, playing, and writing) that encourage a young child’s development of important early literacy skills.
In Shake-It-Up Story Time we…
-Share age-appropriate books and stories.
Listening to stories in a fun and relaxed atmosphere helps a child to develop a lifelong love of reading and learning.
-Sing, dance, and make music.
These activities foster development of language and gross motor skills.
-Participate in creative movement activities.
Creative movement helps to develop a child’s imagination.
Children are encouraged to take turns, follow instructions, and make new friends.
